There aren't many secrets in the massage therapy business. People think there are, but it is really quite simple. People come into the office sore, beaten, and tired and you tune their body up a little. The big secret is that they have been ignoring their aches and pains for so long that when you make some of all of those aches go away they feel terrific.

The closest thing I have to a secret is that massage therapists pull on their clients hair. And clients like it. Now, I don't pull hard, just a gentle and slow tug. I am not sure what it is about hair pulling that feels so good, but it does.

It is not unusual for a client to say that they want to avoid an area or have that area treated especially gently, but I have never had a client ask me to omit the hair pulling. I doubt many of them know it is going on. With your eyes closed it probably just feels like scalp massage.
